Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)-based Hair Restoration therapy is a modern-day, advanced medical technology, utilizing a person's own platelets/fibrin for gaining results of hair restoration. When the platelets/fibrin are injected into the site of action (scalp) they trigger a healing cascade thus increasing hair growth.
Both PRP and PRF enriched plasmas are used for hair restoration purposes. Both are beneficial and can have their advantages in certain settings. PRF/PRP is a by-product of the patient's blood, therefore, disease transmission is not an issue. PRP is spun in a high-speed centrifuge to separate the red cells from the plasma. PRF is spun in a slow speed centrifuge system without adding anticoagulants. Simply put this process allows for a stronger scaffolding/tissue matrix and availability of more key nutrients such as platlete-derived growth factors in the PRF network. The PRF based matrices are known to play an important role in the process of wound healing and new tissue formation.
As with most procedures, there is a careful process in using PRF for hair restoration. The process begins with a standard blood draw from your arm just like you get for lab work. The tube of blood is then placed in a slow speed centrifuge, which separates the red blood cells from the platelets, fibrin, and growth factors. The PRF is then injected into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles. The process is meticulous- with injections beginning across the frontal scalp, approximately every cm over the area of thinning hair. The procedure typically takes less 30-45 minutes.
There is no downtime associated for this procedure. Once you are home, you may shower, shampoo and condition as usual.
If you are a male or female who has been dealing with thinning hair or hair loss- then YES- you are eligible to be treated! At Skinovation, we offer a complimentary consultation and address all of your questions and concerns. We will evaluate your hair loss and health history and inform you if you are indeed a good candidate for this treatment.
Results aren't immediate. The growth cycle for a new hair to grow from the follicle is three months, so it will take longer than that for you to see a difference in your appearance. Most people notice results between six and twelve months.
Some clients may experience the results after their first session. Your treatment plan will be customized to your individualized needs. Recommendations are based on the condition of your hair and how much hair you like to grow back. The bast results come from repeated treatments once a month for three months. Most people return once to twice annually for maintenance.
PRF hair restoration can be further enhanced when used in conjunction with at-home treatments. There are effective topical treatments, vitamins, and laser light therapy that are available post PRF hair restoration. These options can be discussed further at your consultation.
